Finance Report Writer (6 month contract)

Job Purpose

The role is responsible for supporting amendments for an existing report. You will assist the business by managing and manipulating multiple sources of data and datasets to amend existing financial report reports. You will be required to cross reference against Sage and other Finance platforms.

Your primary focus will be to assist in one of the financial projects the business is undertaking. You will be working with the Finance team to improve one of their existing reports, which includes working with stored procedures, Visual Studio, Excel and SSRS.

You’ll be focused on improving the impact, and understanding, of financial reporting – including cost allocation – on business performance and supporting the Financial Controller with continuous improvement as part of this project.

Summary of role:

  • Key data validation tasks, ensuring accuracy of data against brief
  • Delivering key tasks set out within the plan, ensuring data requirements are clearly captured in the project
  • Applying knowledge of financial data and requirements needed for accurate financial, compliance and planning and reporting
  • Communicating with internal stakeholders
  • To use SQL and other data tools to complete the data requirements outlined in the project brief.
  • Extraction of data from SQL / Oracle databases
  • Produce insightful and meaningful analysis in an easy to understand format
  • Providing detailed reporting which identifies areas for improvement or optimisation of commercial strategy.

Ensure accuracy and reliability. Produces Budget, Forecasts for project.



What you’ll need:

·       Experience in Excel, SQL, SSRS and Power BI
·       Able to translate data into visualizations which provide context and improve understanding
·       Proficient in MS Office
·       Creative and approachable by non-technical colleagues and able to communicate effectively
·       Experience of DataSets/Stored Procedures
·       Able to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
·       Works independently and as an effective team member
·       Strong attention to detail
